The assailant, identified as Shariful Islam, a 30-year old from Bangladesh, was arrested three days following the incident. Additionally, the chargesheet includes input from Islam's acquaintance and employer, Jitendra Pandey, and a relative in India, his maternal uncle. Another statement from Khukumoni Jahangir Sheikh details how her mobile phone was stolen by Islam and later used, underscoring his intent was theft. It appears Islam had no prior knowledge that the residence he targeted belonged to the famous actor.
