Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case: Accused Seeks Court Relief, Claims Arrest Was Illegal And Demands Release

Mohammad Shariful Islam, accused in the Saif Ali Khan stabbing case, claims unlawful arrest. Court has postponed proceedings until May 13, amid ongoing media scrutiny.

Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case: The individual accused of attacking actor Saif Ali Khan has approached the Bandra metropolitan magistrate court. Mohammad Shariful Islam, a 30-year-old Bangladeshi national, is seeking to have his arrest declared illegal and to be released from jail. He is currently held at Arthur Road Jail.

Islam had previously filed a bail plea in April with a sessions court, which he has now withdrawn. His lawyer, Ajay Gawli, submitted an application to the Judicial Magistrate First Class in Bandra. The application claims that Islam's arrest was unlawful as the police did not follow legal procedures during his apprehension.

Accusations and Legal Proceedings

The court has requested a response from the police regarding these allegations and has postponed further proceedings until May 13. Islam's legal team argues that proper legal protocols were not observed during his arrest, which they claim invalidates it.

The incident involving Saif Ali Khan occurred on January 16 this year. An intruder entered Khan's apartment on the 12th floor in Bandra and repeatedly stabbed him with a knife. The 54-year-old actor required emergency surgery at Lilavati Hospital and was discharged after five days.

Details of the Incident

Following the attack, police arrested Islam two days later. The case has drawn significant attention due to Khan's celebrity status and the nature of the crime. The legal proceedings are being closely monitored by both media and fans alike.

As the case progresses, all eyes remain on how the court will rule regarding Islam's claims of an illegal arrest. The outcome could have implications for both his future and the handling of similar cases in Mumbai.
