Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case: Auto Driver Who Dropped Attacker Near Actor's Residence Reveals Shocking Details
Dhananjay Chaini, an auto-rickshaw driver, emerges as a key witness in the Saif Ali Khan attack case, detailing the assailant's premeditated actions and movements before the incident.

Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case Update: In a shocking revelation connected to the January attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, an auto-rickshaw driver has become a pivotal witness in the case. The detailed investigation has resulted in a comprehensive 1,613-page chargesheet against the accused, Shariful Fakir, highlighting a meticulous plan leading up to the incident. The auto driver, Dhananjay Chaini, played an unwitting role by transporting Fakir close to Saif Ali Khan’s residence mere hours before the assault.
Dhananjay Chaini recounted picking up the accused from Bandra railway station on January 15 and dropping him off near Saif Ali Khan’s home. The trip stuck in Chaini's memory as Fakir had paid him double the fare, a gesture that distinctly marked the passenger in his mind. This incident occurred roughly 12 hours before Fakir launched his pre-dawn attack, with Chaini unknowingly playing a part in the events that unfolded.
Fakir's movements were meticulously captured by CCTV, tracing his steps from the moment he was dropped off near Saif Ali Khan’s building. Footage showed him scouting the vicinity from around 1 pm, and over the next several hours, he appeared on various cameras around the neighborhood. In the early hours of January 16, he was seen inside Saif's building complex and later fleeing the scene.
Following the attack, Fakir continued to move across Mumbai, appearing in different locations which included a bus stop, a food outlet near Bandra station, and outside a mobile phone shop near Dadar station. His journey ended in Worli, suggesting a well-thought-out escape route post-attack.
The chargesheet also sheds light on Fakir's background, revealing a trajectory of criminal activities that funded his move to Mumbai. His uncle, Hafizul Shekaut Sheikh, disclosed Fakir was kicked out of their home for theft, which led him to Kolkata where he committed another robbery. This pattern of behavior culminated in his employment at a Worli pub, a position he lost due to further theft, setting the stage for the attack on Saif Ali Khan.
Police believe that Fakir's history of theft and his calculated movements in the days leading to the attack indicate a premeditated plan rather than a spur-of-the-moment crime. The reasons behind targeting Saif Ali Khan remain unclear, but the evidence points to a deliberate strategy rather than an impulsive act.
This case has taken a significant turn with Chaini's testimony, providing crucial insights into the timeline and actions of the accused before the assault on Saif Ali Khan. As the investigation progresses, it becomes increasingly evident that this was no random act of violence but a carefully planned operation with motives yet to be fully understood.
