Sardaar Ji 3 Controversy | Naseeruddin Shah Deletes Support Post For Diljit Dosanjh: Hard To Carry Support...

Naseeruddin Shah criticises backlash against Diljit Dosanjh for his role in Sardaar Ji 3, highlighting the complexities of cultural exchanges between India and Pakistan.

Diljit Dosanjh Controversy: Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah recently faced criticism on social media after expressing support for Diljit Dosanjh. Diljit is under fire for collaborating with Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in the film Sardaar Ji 3. In response to the backlash, Naseeruddin removed his supportive Facebook post.

Naseeruddin's deleted post had defended Diljit, stating that the actor was not responsible for the film's casting decisions. He emphasised that the director made those choices and criticised those attacking Diljit. Naseeruddin also highlighted his personal connections with people in Pakistan, asserting his right to maintain those relationships.

Controversy Surrounding Sardaar Ji 3

The controversy surrounding Sardaar Ji 3 has intensified since its overseas release on June 27. The film, which also stars Neeru Bajwa, has not been released in India. Following the trailer launch, there have been calls to ban Diljit and his future projects in India.

The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) and Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) have demanded a ban on Diljit's work. Singer Mika Singh has suggested that Diljit should apologise for his involvement in the film.

Naseeruddin's Cryptic Note

After deleting his initial post, Naseeruddin shared a cryptic message on Facebook. He quoted Georg Christoph Lichtenberg: "It is almost impossible to carry the torch of truth through a crowd without singeing somebody's beard." This note sparked mixed reactions among users, with some supporting his freedom of speech while others criticised him.

The backlash against Diljit comes amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following recent events. These include the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 and India's Operation Sindoor on May 7, which involved air strikes on terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Naseeruddin's comments have drawn attention to the ongoing debate about cultural exchanges between India and Pakistan. While some argue for maintaining artistic collaborations, others believe such interactions should be limited due to political tensions.

Despite the controversy, Naseeruddin remains firm in his stance supporting Diljit. His actions highlight the challenges faced by artists navigating complex political landscapes while pursuing cross-border collaborations.
