Sikandar Promotion: Salman Khan fell prey to controversy ahead of the release of Sikandar when he shared a series of pictures of himself on Thursday. However, it was Salman Khan's watch in his attire that caught the attention of many. The watch was nothing but a 'Ram Janmabhoomi Edition' watch which was meant to promote the Ayodhya temple. After the pictures went viral, Barelvi cleric and All India Muslim Jamaat president Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi called the act 'haram' and termed it as 'illegal' while slamming the actor for the same.

On Thursday, Salman shared a series of pictures of himself wearing a blue shirt pairing it up with an orange watch that was 'Ram Janmabhoomi edition', which is from the brand Jacob & Co. Epic X Ram Janmabhoomi Titanium Edition 2 Watch, worth Rs. 34 lakhs. Sharing the pictures, the actor wrote, "See you in theatres on 30th March!"
After the pictures went viral, Maulana Razvi shared a statement saying that he has received inquiries regarding the same and urged the actor to engage in any 'non-muslim' activities that promotes other religion. Calling it illegal and haram, the AIMJ president said, "I have been asked about Shariat's ruling about Salman Khan. I tell you the Shariat's ruling about the work done by him, that he is wearing a Ram Edition watch made for the promotion of Ram Mandir. Wearing such a watch in hand being a Muslim is illegal and haram," as per PTI.
He further added, "Salman Khan is a famous personality of India. He has millions of fans and he is also a Muslim," he said. "If any Muslim, even if it is Salman Khan, is promoting the Ram Mandir or any other non-Muslim thing, it is considered illegal and haram. I urge Salman Khan to follow the principles of Shariat," he added.
