Sonam Chhabra Exposes Sufi Motiwala’s Double Standards: “Nice in DMs, Mocking in Public”

The ongoing rift between actor-presenter Sonam Chhabra and content creator Sufi Motiwala has deepened, as Sonam has now shared a second Instagram story, calling out what she describes as Sufi's "two-faced behavior." This comes a few days after her initial post, where she criticized him for mocking her Cannes look.

In her latest story, Sonam shared a screenshot of a past chat with Sufi and wrote:

"He DMs friends to give explanations, is all nice in private but will mock you in public. I ignored the last time he made fun of my role in a web series."

Her caption clearly pointed to a pattern: private politeness from Sufi in direct messages, and public mockery for content. The screenshot she shared appears to show him being cordial-perhaps even attempting to explain or justify himself-while his public videos tell a different story.

In her earlier story, Sonam had confronted Sufi for referring to her as "that girl" while mocking her Cannes appearance-where she wore a white cape printed with the names and dates of major Indian tragedies: 2008 - Mumbai, 2016 - Uri, 2019 - Pulwama, and 2025 - Pahalgam. She had expressed deep disappointment, especially since they had interacted before and he could have reached out privately.

Now, by revealing that this isn't the first time he's taken digs at her-mentioning that she let it go earlier when he mocked her role in a web series-Sonam is making it clear that the issue runs deeper than a single post. She's calling out a pattern of public disrespect disguised as content.

As of now, Sufi Motiwala has not publicly responded to either of the stories or the criticism.

The situation has once again raised important questions in the influencer and entertainment space: Is it ethical to mock people you know personally for clout? Where is the line between content and character?
