Suchitra Krishnamoorthi faced criticism for questioning the authenticity of Ahmedabad plane crash survivor Vishwas Ramesh's account. After backlash, she apologised for spreading misinformation. This incident highlights the need for public figures to verify information before sharing it online.

Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, an actress and singer known for her role in "Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa," recently faced backlash after questioning the authenticity of Vishwas Kumar Ramesh's survival story from the Ahmedabad plane crash. The crash, which occurred on June 12, claimed over 270 lives. Vishwas was the sole survivor, turning his survival into a beacon of hope amid the tragedy.
In a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter), Suchitra cast doubt on Vishwas's account, referencing a social media rumour that falsely accused him of fabricating his story. She questioned whether his family in the UK had corroborated his story and mentioned his participation in his brother's funeral. Her comments suggested that if the rumour were true, Vishwas deserved severe consequences.
Social Media Backlash
The actress quickly faced criticism for spreading unverified information. Many social media users and journalists highlighted that Vishwas's survival had been confirmed by Ahmedabad Civil Hospital and covered by credible news outlets. Within hours, Suchitra deleted her tweet and issued a public apology.
In her apology, she wrote: "Took out my last tweet on the Air India crash survivor. Seems to be false news circulated for God knows what reason. My apologies." She clarified that a friend had shared the misinformation with her on social media, and she regretted not verifying it before reposting.
