Stree 2 Director Amar Kaushik On Pressure While Making The Sequel: Sequel Ko Humesha Gaaliyaan Padti Hain

Amar Kaushik, the director behind the sequel to the 2018 hit Stree, has opened up about the challenges he faced while making Stree 2. Starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, the film not only met but exceeded expectations, earning over Rs 800 crore at the box office. Despite its commercial success, Kaushik revealed the immense pressure he was under during the film's production, highlighting the rush to complete the movie due to its earlier release date and the high expectations for sequels.

During a conversation with Komal Nahta on the Game Changers YouTube channel, Amar Kaushik shared insights into the pressures of working on Stree 2. He said, "Bahut pressure mein film banayi thi. Ek toh sequel ka tha; sequel ko hamesha gaaliyan padti hai. Maine aur mere writer, Niren Bhatt, ne kaha, 'Bhai, gaali khaane ke liye ready raho, ab kitni kam khaaoge uspe kaam karte hai.'" This quote reveals the director’s mindset going into the project, bracing himself and his team for potential criticism and focusing on minimizing it as much as possible.

Kaushik also discussed the unpredictability of working with visual effects (VFX), which added another layer of complexity to the production process. He explained how the reliance on VFX made it challenging to predict the timeline accurately, leading to a stressful post-production phase with impending deadlines and sleepless nights. Now that Stree 2 has been released, he joyfully noted the relief of finally being able to get some rest.
