Paramount Pictures has released the first sneak peek trailer for a new Street Fighter film, created with Legendary Entertainment and Capcom. The reveal highlights Indian action star Vidyut Jammwal, who appears as fan-favourite yoga master Dhalsim in this big-screen adaptation.
The launch also includes fresh character posters that showcase the film’s large ensemble. Director Kitao Sakurai leads the project, which aims to translate the arcade classic’s signature fighting styles, iconic moves and distinctive personalities into a live-action experience for cinema audiences worldwide.
Street Fighter trailer, plot and setting
The story is set in 1993 and follows former allies Ryu and Ken Masters, played by Andrew Koji and Noah Centineo. Their uneasy peace ends when mysterious fighter Chun-Li, portrayed by Callina Liang, recruits them for the feared World Warrior Tournament, where survival demands absolute focus.
The tournament is described as a harsh contest of fists and fate, but a darker thread runs beneath the spectacle. A secret plot forces Ryu and Ken into direct conflict, challenging their loyalty and unresolved histories. The official description warns, “And if they don't, it's GAME OVER!”

The production features a wide mix of international actors as classic game characters. Andrew Koji appears as Ryu, while Noah Centineo plays Ken Masters and Callina Liang portrays Chun-Li. David Dastmalchian takes on the role of M. Bison, and Cody Rhodes appears as Guile, another key tournament fighter.
