Sunjay Kapur's Funeral Details: In a heartbreaking incident, Sunjay Kapur, former husband of actress Karisma Kapoor, passed away on June 12, 2025. The news came on the same day as the devastating Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, which claimed over 240 lives. According to reports, the 53-year-old businessman suffered a fatal heart attack while playing polo in the United Kingdom. His death was confirmed by Suhel Seth, who tweeted, "Deeply saddened at the passing of @sunjaykapur: he passed away earlier today in England: a terrible loss and deepest condolences to his family and to his colleagues @sonacomstar. ...Om Shanti".

Media sources, including News18, revealed that Sunjay Kapur accidentally inhaled a bee during the polo match, which stung his throat. Though he initially experienced severe discomfort and left the field, he later collapsed due to cardiac arrest. Amid this, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Malaika Arora and Amrita Arora were seen rushing to be by Karisma Kapoor's side during this time. For the uninitiated, Karisma married Sunjay Kapooor in 2003 and had two kids together Samaira and Kiaan Raj. They parted way in 2016 following which Sunjay married Priya Sachdev in 2017

Sunjay Kapur's Funeral Details

To note, while Sunjay Kapur breathed his last in UK, there have been speculations about where his funeral will take place. Talking to NDTV, Sunjay's father in law and Priya Sachdev's father Ashok Sachdev revealed that his funeral will take place in Delhi. "The postmortem is currently underway. Once the paperwork is complete, the body will be brought to India for the last rites," he added.

Meanwhile, Kareena Kapoor Khan's sister in law Saba Pataudi mourned Sunjay's demise along with victim of Ahmedabad plane crash victims. She wrote, "AirIndia.. and Sunjay. Shocking to see the news that followed. To a father and wife, son and brother, I can't imagine what it must be life for the families. My sincere condolences and strength and support to them especially the children. Can't believe it..... still".
