Sunjay Kapur succumbed to death on July 12 while playing a polo match. Just before dying, a witness claimed that Sunjay's last words were "I've swallowed something," as per TOI's reports. Sunjay's close friend and columnist confirmed the news of death to ANI, saying, "Sunjay died of a heart attack, apparently after swallowing a bee during a polo match in England."

The funeral has reportedly been delayed because of the delay in brining back the body to India. There has been issue because Sunjay had US citizenship and he was in London during his death and now the body needs to be brought back to India.

Will Sunjay Kapur's Funeral Be Delayed?

As per NDTV's reports, Sunjay had a US citizenship. Since he died in London, bringing his body to India has become a complicated process. Father-in-law Ashok Sachdev said, "The postmortem is currently underway. Once the paperwork is complete, the body will be brought to India for the last rites."

On the sad news of the death of Sunjay Kapur, his father's co-founded company took to X to claim, "On behalf of Sona Comstar, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all those influenced by his remarkable life." They added, "We want to assure our customers, employees, and shareholders that our current operations and prospects remain unchanged as we honour his legacy. We are committed to upholding his legacy by advancing our mission and the values he instilled in Sona Comstar."

Since Sunjay Kapur passed from Doon School, they wrote a goodbye message for him. Their official X handle said, We are deeply saddened by the passing of Mr Sunjay Kapur on 12th June 2025. A distinguished Old Boy, Member of the Board of Governors, and Chair of the Sports and IT Committees at The Doon School." They added, "Mr Kapur was the Chairman of SONA Comstar Ltd. and a global business leader. He was also serving as the Chairman of the CII Northen Region, Co-Chairman of the Manufacturing Council, CII, and was the former President of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA)."

Explaining about the education and careed, they wrote, "Educated in India, the UK, and the US, he was a passionate entrepreneur and the first Indian Global Chairman of the Entrepreneurs' Organization. A passionate fitness and sport enthusiast and a learner for life, he worked to make polo more accessible beyond its traditional roots. Mr Kapur's enduring commitment to excellence, service, and community leaves a lasting legacy."

Sunjay's company Sona Comstar also tweeted a heartmelting message for their company's emplyees. They assured everyone, "We want to assure our customers, employees, and shareholders that our current operations and prospects remain unchanged as we honour his legacy."
