Filmmaker Hansal Mehta Launches His Production House True Story Films; Expands His Creative Footprint

Hansal Mehta, the acclaimed Indian director known for "Scam 1992" and "Shahid," is venturing into production. He has launched True Story Films with producer Sahil Saigal. This strategic move includes investments from industry leaders Vinod Bhanushali and Parag Sanghvi.

The new company, True Story Films, marks a significant expansion of Mehta's creative reach. It is starting with an ambitious slate valued at around INR5 billion ($58 million). The company aims to develop and produce theatrical features and streaming content across various genres, including dramas and comedies.

Creative Vision and Ambitions

Mehta, who recently directed "Faraaz" and "The Buckingham Murders," will lead as the creative head. Meanwhile, Saigal, who produced these films, will manage business operations. This venture represents Mehta's first formal step into production after establishing himself as one of India's most critically acclaimed directors.

"True Story Films is more than just a production company for me - it's the realization of a dream to create compelling personal stories and to work with diverse storytellers," Mehta expressed.
