Arjun Pandit On Pay Disparity In Cinema: Pay disparity in the entertainment industry has been a long-standing issue. Despite the immense talent and hard work of female artists, there remains a considerable wage gap between them and their male counterparts. On International Women's Day (March 8), veteran producer Anand Pandit says that such occasions serve as a reminder to address this inequality.

"We have seen many female superstars and some of our actresses have also made their mark internationally. However, despite their achievements, they continue to face a pay gap compared to their male counterparts. Occasions like International Women's Day provide an opportunity for everyone to remember the need for fair compensation and greater opportunities for female talent, reinforcing the industry's commitment to gender equality," says Anand Pandit.

He adds that there is a need for a collective effort from producers to ensure fair pay practices in the film industry. "The Hindi film industry can set an example for regional industries to follow. This will not only encourage talent but also boost confidence among artists," says Pandit.

He points out that even low-budget films like 'Laapataa Ladies,' featuring fresh faces have received extraordinary appreciation. "There is always a strong demand for well-crafted, women-led narratives. Beyond addressing pay parity, We should also invest in more stories that highlight female perspectives. Movies that celebrate masculinity often dominate the box office, but it's time to change this trend," he adds.

Pandit believes that his advocacy aligns with this year's International Women's Day theme, For All Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment. "Cinema is a powerful medium, and everything surrounding it, be it actors, technicians, and others in the industry, gains public attention. We know there are several sectors where pay gaps do not exist. If we change things, it can inspire many others," he conclude
