Zubeen Garg Murdered? Assam CM Himanta Sarma’s Big Statement - Chargesheet Expected Before December 17
Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, confirmed a chargesheet will be filed by December 8 in the murder case of Zubeen Garg, amidst public protests demanding justice. The investigation requires approval from the Union Home Ministry due to its complexity.

Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, has announced plans to file a chargesheet in the Zubeen Garg case by December 8. He emphasised that the singer's death was murder, not an accident. "We will submit the chargesheet before December 17. Our target is December 8," he stated. Approval from the Union Home Ministry is needed due to foreign elements in the investigation.
Public Pressure and Protests
The Chief Minister's comments come amid ongoing public pressure and protests seeking justice for Zubeen Garg, who died under unclear circumstances. The public's demand for clarity and accountability has been persistent since the incident occurred. Sarma confirmed discussions with Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding this sensitive matter.
Land Controversy Surrounding 'Zubeen Khetra'
Addressing claims about a state minister owning land near the proposed 'Zubeen Khetra' memorial site, Sarma clarified that land for the project has been allocated. "The land for Zubeen Khetra has been allotted. Just like we built Bhupen Hazarika's memorial, we will build Zubeen's," he said. The memorial will be developed similarly to Bhupen Hazarika Samadhi Kshetra in Guwahati.
Sarma also mentioned that it is not his duty to oversee private land ownership adjacent to government property. "It is not my lookout who owns land on the left or right of the khetra. My concern is only the land that the government has allotted for the memorial," he explained. This statement comes amidst political debates and social media discussions about alleged connections between a minister and nearby land.
Questions have arisen about how Minister Ashok Singhal could own property in a protected tribal belt. This issue has sparked significant interest and debate among both political circles and the general public, highlighting concerns over transparency and governance in land allocation practices.
The Chief Minister's commitment to resolving these issues reflects his administration's dedication to addressing public concerns while ensuring justice for Zubeen Garg. As developments unfold, Assam remains attentive to how these matters will be resolved in the coming months.
