Akshay Kumar Confirms Hera Pheri 3 With Paresh & Suniel Delayed Again; Reveals Real Reason Behind It
Hera Pheri 3 remains delayed due to off screen contract and dispute issues, with Akshay Kumar noting the project will not move ahead until agreements are resolved. The trio continues work on other projects, while legal matters and rights ownership shape the film's future.
Akshay Kumar has confirmed that “Hera Pheri 3” is still stuck, leaving fans waiting longer. During a recent interview, Akshay Kumar said the much talked about sequel is not moving ahead for at least a year. The update comes after months of speculation around the hit comedy franchise and its long-delayed third instalment.

The actor discussed the situation during a conversation with Subhankar Mishra on Mishra’s YouTube channel, while promoting “Bhooth Bangla”. When asked if the disputes around “Hera Pheri 3” were resolved, Akshay Kumar shared that the project remains stalled. The announcement has disappointed many who hoped to see the original trio back soon.
Hera Pheri 3 delay and Akshay Kumar update
Explaining the status, Akshay Kumar said, “Hera Pheri 3 abhi filhaal toh nahi ban rahi (The film is not happening as of now).” When the host expressed shock, Akshay Kumar replied, “Mujhe khud jhatka laga tha. Koi baat nahi, Welcome bana li. Thoda kuch mantra padna padega ki sab theek ho jaaye.
Akshay Kumar further continued, “Abhi ek saal toh nahi hain. Uske bohot saare issues hain, aisa nahi hain ki hum teeno [actors] saath nahi hain. Welcome to the Jungle mein hum teeno saath hain. Kuch kuch cheesein hoti hain jo main camera pe nahi bol sakta. Bohot saari cheezein, agreements hain, which takes the project backwards.”
Hera Pheri 3 disputes, Akshay Kumar and franchise issues
Akshay Kumar also remarked, “Apne aap ayega, jab waqt aayega tab ban jaayega. Bas yahi hein ki budhapa na ho jaaye tab tak!” Akshay Kumar hinted that off-camera contractual problems are holding “Hera Pheri 3” back. The actor stressed that the delay is not due to Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal or Suniel Shetty refusing to collaborate.
The third film in the franchise has already faced controversy before Akshay Kumar’s latest comments. Paresh Rawal briefly exited the project earlier, surprising fans and Akshay Kumar, who had acquired the franchise rights. Later, a producer from South India and Firoz Nadiadwala became involved in a legal disagreement about who owns the “Hera Pheri” copyright.
Despite these problems, Akshay Kumar pointed out that the three stars are still working together elsewhere. Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty are part of “Welcome to the Jungle”, keeping their on-screen chemistry alive. However, Akshay Kumar made it clear that “Hera Pheri 3” will not move ahead until the existing agreements and disputes are resolved.
The “Hera Pheri” series began in 2000 with Priyadarshan directing the first film. The story introduced Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, played by Paresh Rawal, along with Akshay Kumar’s Raju and Suniel Shetty’s Shyam. The film turned into a major success over time. A second part, “Phir Hera Pheri”, arrived in 2006, directed by Neeraj Vora, and strengthened the comedy’s cult status.
With the franchise’s large fan base and the three lead actors still interested, hopes for “Hera Pheri 3” remain alive. For now, Akshay Kumar has indicated that viewers will need patience while legal and contractual issues play out. The future of the film appears dependent on these off-screen matters being settled first.
