Asha Bhosle Death | A Day Before Her Demise, Babul Surpiyo Wrote "Maaf kar dena ..." - Check Why He Apologised
Legendary singer Asha Bhosle breathed her last on April 12 following a chest infection and exhaustion for which she was hospitalized. She was a big part of the entertainment industry for over eight decades, and tributes continue to pour in from across Bollywood and beyond, celebrating a life dedicated to music and artistry. Singer & Rajya Sabha Member Babul Supriyo expressed deep grief over the loss & recalled how she was kind enough to even visit his home in Mumbai which was unbelievable. Ironically, just a day before her demise, Babul had taken to his Instagram handle to apologize to the late singer for using AI to extract her original voice for a Club Mix he did of the iconic song Inteha 2.0. With folded hands emojis he had posted "Maaf Kar Dena Didi .....-" for extracting her original voice using AI for his Club Mix Inteha 2.0 which he mentioned was a gem of a composition of @bappilahiri_official_ 'Inteha ho gayee...aa_" from the film Sharaabi.

He fondly remembers her for her warmth and support that she continued to have for him. He said, "Artists like Asha Bhosle never leave - she loves in our lives for eternity. This feels like a deeply personal loss for me. I've shared the stage with her in so many concerts since 1996 and had the privilege of knowing & learning so much about life & singing from her, 'Up, close & personal'.
"Over the years, she got to know my family well & when my mother passed away during the pandemic, she called & spoke to me, saying that I can free to call her whenever I feel like it. My only regrets remain that I couldn't visit her in her Bunglow on Panchgani hills."
Remembering the first time he had the opportunity to share the stage with her during her US tour in the late nineties, she scolded him for wearing formal suits & ties which Babul had chosen given it was performances with none other than Asha Bhosle. He said, "Didi didn't say anything for the first 2 shows when I wore my planned formal attire of suit & tie but before the 3rd show she told me to wear clothes that suits my age & such formal dresses only made me look older & boring !! I should wear smart jeans, T-shirts & casual jackets. It came as a surprise to me but instantly put me at ease. The very next day, I went out and bought some contemporary casual outfits."
Babul also recalled how excited he was to receive his first cheque of Rs.40,000 with her signature on it. "Even at her age, Asha ji would do her Riyaz regularly. She said that a singer should always read the lyrics of the song 3/4 times, understand it, rigorously practise the tune with the music director & only then go to the mic to record it. "Sadly that routine is almost gone & sings are sent to the singers on messaging platforms & the singers are expected to learn the song well before they reach the studio. -"Very rarely does a singer get to sit on a harmonium with the music director", he added.
While concluding, he lamented that, about a year back he got a call from Nandubhai about a show but then it did not happen. "Couple of years back, Ona video call, she taught her the ornamentations & nuances of the iconic song 'Salona sa Sajan hai' from her album with Ghulam Ali Khan Saab'. Everyone who got to know her personally will immensely miss her, the person Asha Bhosle, but her songs shall live in our hearts & souls for eternity", Babul ended.
