Asha Bhosle Death: Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle has died at the age of 92, leaving the film industry and fans grieving. Asha Bhosle breathed her last at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital on April 12, 2026, and news of the death spread quickly across India. Asha Bhosle had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital just one day before the death. Early media reports claimed a suspected cardiac arrest. However, granddaughter Zania Bhosle later clarified that Asha Bhosle was hospitalised "due to extreme exhaustion and suffering a chest infection". Reports from the hospital stated that Asha Bhosle was moved to the intensive care unit and was in a critical condition.

News of Asha Bhosle's demise had led to a wave of shock and sadness across the country. Personalities from different parts of the entertainment industry, and from other fields as well, have been expressing condolences, recalling Asha Bhosle's vast body of work and the long influence on Indian music. The National Award winning singer was cremated with state honours in Mumbai on April 13 and several celebs and politicians were seen at the cremation ground to pay their last respects to Asha Bhonsle and stand with the bereaving family. In fact, Asha's granddaughter Zanai Bhosle was seen heartbroken and was inconsolable as she bid adieu to the legendary singer.

Soon after the funeral, Zanai took to her Instagram story and shared a pic with Asha Bhosle. She captioned the pic as "Goodbye my love, love of my life" along with a red heart emoticon. Zanai also shared a video of herself with Asha Bhosle wherein she was singing 'Dil Cheez Kya Hai'. In the caption, Zanai poured her heart out and wrote, "As I wake up this morning, I realise I have lost my partner in crime, my bestfriend, a person who completed my entire world and the first person to hold me when I was born. What do I do now? Who am I supposed to wake up and give a hug to in the morning and have chai with? Who's going to be waiting for me everyday when I come home or who am I supposed to crack lame jokes with.. These are just a few things to remember her by, but to all those who have felt this loss with me, remember that she was and is the definition of LIFE and LAUGHTER, so if you have to remember her only remember her that way!!"


Zanai further wrote, "She's looking down on us all, especially her family and I believe she's going to comeback to me very soon, because that is what she promised me and told me always!! I have lost the love of my life and there is no bigger grief in the world so I urge you guys to live life to your fullest and celebrate her that way and celebrate her life!! I love you ashaai, and goodbye for now my love.. I know you are always going to be with me no matter what, just waiting for you to come back to me and hug me once again".

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had mourned the demise of Asha Bhosle and tweeted, "Deeply saddened by the passing of Asha Bhosle Ji, one of the most iconic and versatile voices India has ever known. Her extraordinary musical journey, spanning decades, enriched our cultural heritage and touched countless hearts across the world. Be it her soulful melodies or vibrant compositions, her voice carried timeless brilliance. I'll always cherish the interactions I've had with her. My condolences to her family, admirers and music lovers. She will continue to inspire generations and her songs will forever echo in people's lives."
