Akshay Kumar’s horror comedy Bhooth Bangla is gearing up for release with strong buzz around the trailer and songs. The Priyadarshan film now holds a U/A 16+ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification, runs 164.52 minutes, and is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on 17 April 2026 after a delay.

The certification came after the Examining Committee of the CBFC suggested several changes. One obscene word around the 26-minute mark was replaced, and other similar expressions around an hour into the film were altered. A further objectionable term in the closing subtitle was removed, and a disrespectful reference to women in the first half was modified as instructed.

The makers also agreed to add disclaimers wherever religious or superstitious content appears in Bhooth Bangla, as asked by the CBFC. Earlier reports from Bollywood Hungama stated that the runtime would be close to 170 minutes. After voluntary cuts and CBFC-directed edits, including trimming 63 scenes, the film now clocks 2 hours, 44 minutes and 52 seconds.

Bhoot Bangla release date, delay and preview plans

Bhooth Bangla was first planned for a 10 April 2026 release, but that plan changed. The team shifted the date because of the strong Dhurandhar 2 wave at the box office. The film will now open on 17 April 2026, with paid preview shows scheduled from 9 pm onwards on 16 April 2026 across selected screens.

Advance booking for Bhooth Bangla will begin on Tuesday, ahead of the release week. Trade watchers expect a healthy opening, supported by the positive response to its trailer and songs. Interest is also high because Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar are collaborating again after many years, positioning the film among the more talked-about upcoming Hindi releases.

With certification secured, runtime locked and a revised date in place, Bhooth Bangla moves into its final publicity phase.
