“Ranveer Is One of the Best Actors We Have”: Border 2 Director Anurag Praises His Craft & Dhurandhar

National Award-winning filmmaker Anurag Singh, known for directing films like Kesari and Border 2, recently spoke about actor Ranveer Singh and his evolving journey in the industry. In a recent interview with veteran journalist Faridoon, the filmmaker described Ranveer as one of the finest actors working today.

Speaking about the actor's early days, Singh recalled "When I saw Band Baaja Baaraat, I genuinely felt he was from Delhi or Haryana. I was surprised to know he's from Bombay," he shared, adding that the authenticity of Ranveer's performance left a lasting impression on him. According to the award winning director, what truly sets Ranveer apart is his willingness to constantly evolve as an actor. From transforming into cricket legend Kapil Dev in 83 to delivering a powerful performance as Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat, the actor has consistently challenged himself with diverse roles, says Kesari, Border 2 director.

"He actively wants to do something new and step out of his comfort zone. That's not easy," Singh noted, pointing out that many actors often prefer to remain within familiar territory after achieving success. Interestingly, the director also spoke about Dhurandhar, revealing that he watched the film while wrapping up his own project. Sharing his appreciation, Singh said he thoroughly enjoyed the cinematic experience. "I loved the film. The world-building, performances, and music, the entire team has done a wonderful job," he said, adding that the success of the film feels well deserved.

Anurag Singh also expressed excitement about the future of the franchise. "I'm ready for part two. I'll watch Dhurandhar 2 first day, first show," he said enthusiastically. For the filmmaker, Ranveer Singh's journey reflects what happens when talent meets risk-taking and relentless effort, a combination he believes audiences are increasingly recognising and celebrating.
