Titled "Reimagining Global Pathways and Financing for Stories That Travel," the session explored the evolving landscape of international co-productions, audience intelligence, responsible AI, creator ownership, and sustainable financing models shaping the future of independent storytelling.

The panel was moderated by Rita Meher, Founder of Tasveer, and featured Guneet Monga Kapoor, Arathi Sethumadhavan, Anjana Gopakumar, and Jaime Otero.

Opening the discussion, Rita Meher spoke about the growing momentum around South Asian storytelling and the need for creators to move beyond representation toward ownership and long-term infrastructure building within the global entertainment ecosystem.

"The era of South Asian cinema merely knocking on the doors of global entertainment is officially over; we are now building our own infrastructure, owning our IP, and charting our own paths," said Rita Meher.

The discussion highlighted how South Asian stories are increasingly finding global audiences through cross-border collaborations, audience intelligence, and technology-enabled production ecosystems. Panelists explored how data analytics are helping regional content travel beyond diaspora audiences, while responsible AI and localization tools are creating new opportunities for independent creators to scale culturally rooted stories globally.

Another key focus of the session was the importance of creator ownership and sustainable business models, with conversations centered on protecting intellectual property, building long-term value, and strengthening global pathways for independent South Asian storytellers.

The session concluded with an engaging audience Q&A around co-productions, AI ethics, regional cinema distribution, and the future of culturally authentic storytelling within the global entertainment industry.

Supported by Google and Shivam Gupta Casting, the panel reinforced Cannes' growing recognition of South Asian storytelling as an increasingly influential cultural and commercial force shaping the future of global entertainment.
