Dhurandhar 2 | Vivek Sinha Hits Back At Criticism Amid Anti-Hindu Dialogue Row: Should We Call A Terrorist...

The article examines the Dhurandhar 2 debate over a dialogue deemed anti Hindu, detailing Vivek Sinha's defence of a fictional character while noting the film's substantial worldwide earnings and ongoing discussions about cinema reflecting societal issues in India.

Actor Vivek Sinha has pushed back against criticism of a dialogue in Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, after some viewers called it “anti-Hindu”. While the debate grows online, the film continues its strong run, collecting more than Rs 1,350 crore worldwide since its theatrical release.

Sinha has stressed that the lines belong to a fictional character, not to personal beliefs. The actor also clarified rumours about identity, noting that Sinha is from Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh, not from Pakistan, and described Sinha as an Indian performer portraying a terrorist on screen.

Vivek Sinha Dhurandhar 2 controversy and terrorist role

In Dhurandhar 2, directed by Aditya Dhar, Vivek Sinha plays Zahoor Mistry. The character is modelled on one of the Kandahar hijackers. A line delivered by Zahoor in the trailer, “Hindu waqai darpok qaum hai”, spread widely online and was labelled “anti-Hindu” by sections of social media users.

The backlash resurfaced after the trailer release, leading to personal messages for Sinha. During an interview with PTI, Sinha described one Instagram comment from a woman who attacked the dialogue and questioned Sinha’s faith, accusing Sinha of criticising Hindus for money.

Sinha recounted the message in detail, saying, "A few days ago, I got a message on Instagram which read, 'You should be ashamed of being a Hindu and for a small amount of money, you are saying this for a Hindu'. A lady wrote this to me and left."

Responding in the same interview, Sinha explained the way cinema uses characters to reflect society. Sinha said, "Honestly, I want to say this... Films are a mirror of the society. We show what kind of characters are there. So, if a terrorist from Pakistan has entered India saying 'Kill me too, but I will do what I will', we will have to show that. We have to show their thinking, what kind of thinking they had to enter India with."

Sharing how Sinha replied to the Instagram user, the actor added another detailed response. Sinha said, "So I replied to that lady and left a voice note in which I mentioned that if we want to show such kind of a person, should we call a terrorist from Pakistan to play the role? We will only have to do that and act that ways. It's not like, if someone is committing a murder in a film, then we will find out, who is the person in jail, who has committed five murders to play the role," he concluded.

That argument was reflected in a PTI interview, where Sinha stated: "We can't call a terrorist from Pakistan to act in the film," says actor Vivek Sinha on essaying the role of a terrorist in 'Dhurandhar'.

Dhurandhar 2 Vivek Sinha box office performance

Earlier, while discussing the trolling, Sinha requested viewers to separate fiction from real life. The actor underlined again that Zahoor Mistry is a fictional terrorist, and reminded audiences that Sinha remains an Indian citizen and performer, not linked to any extremist group outside the screenplay.

Dhurandhar 2 opened in cinemas on March 19 and has become a major commercial success. The film is directed by Aditya Dhar, whom Sinha publicly thanked. Sinha recently told Dhar, "Entire nation is now standing beside you", as the film’s reach increased across domestic and overseas markets.

The article also notes that readers who follow business and markets often rely on platforms such as Moneycontrol for Sensex, Nifty and personal finance information.

The discussion around Vivek Sinha and Dhurandhar 2 now sits alongside the film’s financial success. While criticism of one dialogue continues on social media, Sinha maintains that the role is fictional, the character is shaped by the script, and audiences should judge performance within that cinematic context.
