Ikkis X Review: Is Dharmendra's Last Film Leaving A Mark On Hearts Or Is It A Dull Watch? Check Tweets
Ikkis X Review: As 2026 begins, cinemas welcome Dharmendra back to the big screen for a final appearance. The late actor, who died on November 24, 2025, returns in Ikkis, a biographical war drama. The film reaches theatres while memories of Dharmendra's long career remain strong. Ikkis tells the story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal during the 1971 India-Pakistan War. The narrative centres on the Battle of Basantar, tracing how the young officer serves on the frontlines and faces decisive moments that shape personal courage and duty.

Ikkis features Agastya Nanda in a theatrical debut, alongside Dharmendra in a final screen role, with Jaideep Ahlawat and Simar Bhatia. Ikkis follows Arun Khetarpal from early army service to heroic death at Basantar, also depicting Brigadier ML Khetarpal's later visit to Pakistan. With Ikkis now playing in cinemas, viewers across India are sharing first reactions to the war drama. Early audiences engage with the portrayal of the Battle of Basantar and Arun Khetarpal's legacy, while also recognising Dharmendra's farewell performance as a significant cultural moment. A user took to micro-blogging site Twitter, a user gave Ikkis a rating of 4.5 stars and wrote, "Sriram Raghavan's Ikkis is a poignant masterpiece that chooses raw emotion over loud noise. 🇮🇳✨ Agastya Nanda shines in a sincere breakout performance as 2nd Lt. Arun Khetarpal, perfectly capturing the journey from innocent boy to battlefield hero. 🎖️🔥 However, the film truly belongs to the legendary Dharmendra in his final on-screen role. 👴💔 Playing the grieving father, his silent, dignified performance is heartbreaking and anchors the emotional core. Unlike typical actioners, this is an intimate, claustrophobic look at war that honors both a young martyr and a cinema icon. A deeply moving watch".
Another user wrote, "#Ikkis: First half looked dull .. while there are emotions but its not with current mood of the audience .. lets see whether the 2nd half brings any change or not .."
Meanwhile, during a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Sriram Raghavan got candid about Arun Khetarpal's family's reaction to Ikkis and said, "Arun Khetarpal's brother saw the film. He was extremely moved. He had a long chat with Agastya Nanda (who plays Arun in the film). He told us, 'Now, I imagine what Arun must have gone through when he was there'. He asked us, 'How did you capture my brother so well?'. It was quite overwhelming for him watching the film".
