Jailer 2: Will Shah Rukh Khan Do A Cameo In Rajinikanth's New Film? Here's What We Know
Shah Rukh Khan has chosen not to appear in Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, after early reports hinted at a special role. According to a new report, the actor prefers to keep the look and aura from his upcoming film King exclusive for now, especially ahead of its theatrical release.

Both teams reportedly discussed the idea at length but later dropped the cameo plan. The reported timelines for Jailer 2 and King are close, and this is said to have influenced the decision. For Shah Rukh Khan, King also carries personal importance, as it launches Suhana Khan in cinemas.
Shah Rukh Khan Not To Be A Part Of Jailer 2
As reported by Pinkvilla, a source said, "The makers were keen to have Shah Rukh Khan onboard for a five-day cameo, and he was absolutely open to the idea. However, his current focus remains firmly on King, which holds immense importance for him, especially as it marks his daughter Suhana Khan's big-screen launch. In a respectful conversation with the team, SRK expressed his willingness to do the cameo while requesting that the release of Jailer 2 could be aligned post King, as he wanted his appearance to remain exclusive to that film. He has a certain look in King, and he doesn't want to have the same in any other film before."
The report adds that the team behind Jailer 2 had tentatively targeted an August release window. King is expected to arrive in cinemas in December. With only a few months between both films, the proposed appearance did not fit Shah Rukh Khan’s preference for keeping his King avatar unseen elsewhere.
SRK Skips Jailer 2 Cameo Offer Reason
The same Pinkvilla report notes, "The makers were looking at an August release, ahead of King in December, and given the differing timelines, both parties mutually and amicably decided to part ways on this cameo. Shah Rukh Khan has also personally spoken to Rajinikanth and conveyed his admiration, assuring him that he would be happy to collaborate, be it a cameo or a full-fledged role, at a more suitable time in the future," the source further shared.
Earlier on 7 April 2026, an X account named Rangasthalam claimed Shah Rukh Khan had given five days of dates for Jailer 2. The post also said Shah Rukh Khan would not charge any fee, out of respect for Rajinikanth. The latest report, however, suggests that this earlier claim does not hold true.
The new report stresses that Shah Rukh Khan respects Rajinikanth’s work and still wishes to join forces later. The actor is said to be open to a short role or a full part when schedules and release plans align better. For now, both sides have decided to pause the collaboration without any dispute.
King is produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures and brings Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan together on screen for the first time. Reports describe Shah Rukh Khan’s character as a veteran assassin in a criminal underworld, while Suhana Khan’s role is that of a trainee preparing for perilous assignments.
The cast of King also features Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Arshad Warsi, Abhay Verma and Raghav Juyal. With this ensemble and the father-daughter pairing, King is positioned as Shah Rukh Khan’s priority project, which explains why the Jailer 2 cameo has been set aside for the moment.
