Kargil Vijay Divas 2026 EXCL: Vardhaan Puri Hails Vikram Batra & Anuj Nayyar; Calls Them 'Real Life Heroes'

Kargil Vijay Divas 2026 Exclusive: As the nation observes Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26, actor Vardhaan Puri paid a heartfelt tribute to the brave soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces, calling them the nation's greatest heroes and expressing deep gratitude for their sacrifices.

Speaking about the significance of the day, Vardhaan said, "Kargil Vijay Diwas reminds us of the courage and sacrifice of our soldiers and all our armed forces. This day personally means a lot to me because we live safely and peacefully in the comfort of our homes only because our soldiers stand guard at the borders. Every sacrifice they've made, every battle they've won for us, and every time they've protected our country deserves a thousand salutations from every civilian. I am an extremely patriotic human being, and my country comes before anything else. Every Kargil Vijay Diwas, I like to observe a few minutes of silence to remember our brave warriors."

Remembering the legends of the Kargil War, he added, "Captain Anuj Nayyar and Captain Vikram Batra are real-life heroes. Their courage, determination, and ultimate sacrifice continue to inspire generations. Sometimes I wonder why we speak only about film heroes when these are the heroes who deserve to be remembered every single day."

Vardhaan also believes cinema has a vital role in celebrating India's armed forces. "It is our responsibility as storytellers to portray our soldiers with dignity and inspire the younger generation to serve the nation. Respect for them should be non-negotiable."

Calling Border his all-time favourite film, Vardhaan revealed he has watched it over 100 times, adding that it inspired him to become an actor. On portraying a soldier someday, he concluded, "One billion percent. I truly believe it's destined to happen, and I hope to wear the uniform on screen in the near future."
