Madhuri Dixit & Triptii Dimri Address Rumours Of Ignoring Dharna Durga During Maa Behen Promotion: They Can’t…
Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimri have responded to social media criticism after a promotional video for their upcoming Netflix film Maa Behen, featuring influencer-actor Dharna Durga, led to claims that Dharna was being sidelined. The two actors said the online reaction has been exaggerated, and stressed that there was no intention to ignore anyone during the promotions.

The clip from a Maa Behen press interaction recently went viral and sparked debate, as many users felt Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimri were not giving Dharna Durga enough attention. The exchange appeared routine to others, yet the perception of slight triggered strong comments, memes and threads dissecting their behaviour towards Dharna.
Maa Behen controversy and social media reaction
Discussing the matter in an interview with India Today, Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimri said such storms are common whenever a film nears release. They remarked that social media often pulls short, ordinary moments apart, turning them into extended arguments. Both said the conversation around the Maa Behen video reflects this pattern of constant online judgement.
Triptii Dimri rejected suggestions of any disrespect towards Dharna Durga and spoke about the pressure actors feel around release time. Triptii said, "Whenever I have a film nowadays it happens that when something is about to be released, I am scared of being happy. I ask myself, what will they pick this time? What will they create now? I thought, what will they find in this film? There is nothing. They can't say anything this time. But they did get hold of something. Some people will go on to do it every time; we can't help it."
Maa Behen promotions and changing culture of criticism
Triptii Dimri added that she expects heightened scrutiny whenever promotions begin, including for Maa Behen. Triptii said harmless interactions can quickly look different once edited into short clips and shared widely. For Triptii, the latest backlash fits a broader trend, where audiences search for hidden drama even in basic press events or light-hearted chats.
Madhuri Dixit, reflecting on an earlier era, said that criticism itself is not new, but access to platforms is. Comparing the 1990s with the atmosphere around today, Madhuri said, "There were people (like that) even then, but they didn't have a way to express. Today we have that channel; everyone is expressing these days. Everyone is a filmmaker, everyone is a fashionista, and everyone is moral police."
Maa Behen cast, plot and Netflix release
Alongside this online debate, Madhuri Dixit is focusing on the launch of Maa Behen, described as a comedy-thriller for Netflix. The film features Triptii Dimri and actor-influencer Dharna Durga, who share screen space with Madhuri, as well as Ravi Kishan in a key role. All four play central parts in the story.
Maa Behen is directed by Suresh Triveni, known for Tumhari Sulu, Jalsa and Subedaar, and produced by Abundantia Entertainment Production with Opening Image Films. The trailer shows Madhuri as a single mother, with Triptii Dimri and Dharna Durga as the daughters. The dark comedy follows Madhuri's character as the daughters help after a man dies at home. Maa Behen is scheduled to release on Netflix on June 4.
