On Thursday evening (May 14), Mouni Roy and Suraj Nambiar officially confirmed their "amicable" divorce through a public statement, finally putting an end to the nonstop speculation surrounding their relationship. In their message, the former couple requested privacy from the media and urged people to stop spreading "false narratives" and stories about their separation.
Before their official confirmation, several rumors regarding the reason behind the split had already taken over social media. One report by ABP had claimed that Suraj allegedly cheated on Mouni and misused her money for personal benefit. However, neither Mouni nor Suraj directly addressed those allegations in their statement, choosing instead to maintain a respectful and private tone regarding their breakup.

Previously, in an interview with ETimes, Suraj Nambiar had candidly spoken about adjusting to life after marrying actress Mouni Roy. Reflecting on the sudden media attention, he'd revealed that things were very different when the two first met in Dubai, where she was not constantly surrounded by paparazzi or fans.
However, Suraj recalled that his perspective changed once he visited Mumbai with the actress. Seeing fans approach her for selfies and photographers following her everywhere made him realise the scale of her popularity and the public attention that naturally came with it.
Speaking about adapting to the spotlight, Suraj had said, "It's part of the deal, and with time, I am getting used to it."
