Priya Kapur Shares Emotional Note For Sunjay Kapur On 8th Anniversary; Says 'Our Story Isn't Over'

Priya Sachdev Kapur marks her ninth wedding anniversary with an emotional Instagram tribute to Sunjay Kapur, recalling their life together. The post arrives amid an ongoing dispute over the RK Family Trust and Sunjay's estate, now under Delhi High Court review. The family dynamics and legacy are central to the coverage.

Priya Sachdev Kapur marked her first wedding anniversary since Sunjay Kapur’s death with a heartfelt Instagram post. Priya shared old wedding photographs and a handwritten note from Sunjay, recalling his wish for “7 lifetimes” together. The tribute arrived while the Kapur family continued a court battle over Sunjay’s estate and the RK Family Trust.

In her message, Priya uploaded a series of intimate images from their celebrations and addressed Sunjay directly. She remembered a recent anniversary they spent with friends and repeated his promise of many lives together. She wrote, "Happy Anniversary, J (heart emoji) Last year, on our 8th, we celebrated with your Dosco friends. It was loud, warm, full of laughter. You looked at me and said you wanted us to be together for the next 7 lifetimes. I'm holding you to that, J."

The photos showed moments from their traditional Punjabi wedding in 2017, when Priya married the businessman. Priya wore an ornate gold kurta set for the ceremony, while Sunjay appeared in a white kurta-pyjama and pink pagdi. The couple later welcomed a son, Azarius, adding to Sunjay’s two older children from the earlier marriage.

Priya then remembered a handwritten anniversary letter that Sunjay had prepared for their seventh year together. She called it her most valued present and shared the message with followers. Priya wrote, "On our 7th, you wrote the most beautiful note for me. The most precious gift. I have carried every word with me. I always will. You were not just my husband. You were my soulmate, my safe place, my heartbeat. With you, I found home. Loving you was the easiest and most beautiful thing I have ever known. You made the ordinary feel magical."

Her Instagram post ended with another long note addressed to Sunjay, stressing that the bond still felt present. Priya suggested their relationship continued beyond death and quoted Sunjay’s favourite lines about reincarnation and togetherness. She concluded, "You are not in my past, my love. You are waiting for me in my future. Our story isn't over. Happy Anniversary, my forever. Like the quote you found for "US": 'This is just the beginning of our time together…7 years of marriage and 7 lives together. And if I could live life again, I would repeat every mistake, so long as it leads me back to you.' P.S. I love you. Always."

Priya Sachdev Kapur tribute shared amid Kapur family estate dispute

Sunjay Kapur died in England on June 12, 2025, after collapsing during a polo match. He was 53. Sunjay and Priya had married in 2017 and shared son Azarius. From Sunjay’s previous marriage with actor Karisma Kapoor, he had two children, Samaira and Kiaan. Following his death, disagreements over his estate moved to the Delhi High Court.

Key members of the family have been contesting control of assets linked to the RK Family Trust. Sunjay’s mother, Rani Kapur, recently described herself as head of the household during an interaction with ANI. Rani said, "I am the head of the family and I am nobody for her (Priya Kapur). What settlement?...I don't understand this girl... Probably she came after Sunjay only for money," while speaking about the RK Family Trust and the control of the family's legacy.

Rani also openly criticised Priya’s legal stance on the trust and claimed that the structure had been created in Rani’s name. Questioning Priya’s challenge, Rani remarked, "She (Priya Kapur) wouldn't have had the guts to have a dispute (if Sunjay Kapur had been alive today). When Sunjay was alive, she didn't have the guts to say anything. I was very close to Sunjay. He never went on a holiday without me...He never left me alone…" The Delhi High Court is now considering issues linked to the trust and its properties.

Priya Sachdev Kapur story reported by entertainment journalist Neeshita Nyayapati

The coverage of Priya and Sunjay’s story came from Chief Content Producer Neeshita Nyayapati. Neeshita holds a Master’s degree in Journalism and has worked for more than ten years in media. Neeshita earlier reported and edited for outlets including The Times of India and Reader's Digest, across print and digital platforms.

Despite senior roles, Neeshita continued to identify first as a film lover and then as editor. Neeshita wrote that cinema captured Neeshita’s imagination in childhood and still felt magical. Fridays usually found Neeshita watching new rom-com or masala releases, often for reviews, while weekdays were spent following film news across Telugu and other industries.

Along with Telugu cinema, Neeshita tracked Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi projects, from announcements to controversies. Neeshita also enjoyed reading, hot chocolate, dogs and beaches for relaxation. Biking and travel had taken Neeshita across India, from frozen lakes in Gangtok and coffee estates in Coorg to Bandipur’s forests and Darjeeling’s monasteries, always in search of moving human stories.

Priya Sachdev Kapur’s anniversary note thus blended personal grief, enduring affection and unresolved legal strain. The Instagram remembrance revisited her 2017 wedding, Sunjay’s handwritten messages and their shared family life. Parallel court hearings over the RK Family Trust and inheritance continued, while journalists such as Neeshita Nyayapati documented each development for cinema and news audiences.
