Rahul Khanna Reacts To Akshaye Khanna’s Dhurandhar Success, Shares Why He Hasn’t Watched It Yet: I'm Waiting
Dhurandhar posts strong box office growth with critical acclaim for Akshaye Khanna’s central performance. Rahul Khanna delays his viewing for a private family screening, while overseas earnings and a planned sequel sustain discussion around the film.
Dhurandhar is running to full cinemas and strong reviews, with Akshaye Khanna’s Rehman Dakait performance widely praised. Yet Akshaye Khanna’s brother Rahul Khanna still has not watched the film in a theatre. Rahul Khanna is waiting for a special screening with Akshaye Khanna, even as the film’s box office numbers keep rising quickly in India and overseas.

Speaking to Mid-Day, Rahul Khanna said the delay is deliberate, not due to lack of interest. Rahul Khanna wants the first viewing to be a shared family moment with Akshaye Khanna. Rahul Khanna said, "I haven't seen the movie yet, I'm waiting for him (Akshaye Khanna) to show it to me. But anything he wears looks great, I'm sure he looks fantastic (smiles)."
Dhurandhar box office and Rahul Khanna's wait
Rahul Khanna’s choice stands out because Dhurandhar has already become a cultural talking point. Viewers and critics are praising the film’s staging and singling out Akshaye Khanna’s character for special appreciation. Many fans assumed Rahul Khanna would watch it on the first weekend. Instead, Rahul Khanna prefers patience, keeping the experience for a quieter, more personal screening with Akshaye Khanna.
Dhurandhar box office success and Akshaye-Rahul bond
Akshaye Khanna has earlier reflected on the bond shared with Rahul Khanna, stressing how it developed naturally. In an older conversation with The Times of India, Akshaye Khanna said their connection did not depend on parental involvement. Akshaye Khanna recalled, "My relationship with my brother was independent of my parents. In that sense, it hasn't changed. But the immediate family for an individual is parents and siblings, and once that starts getting smaller, you hold to what is left even more," he said.
While the brothers’ relationship draws interest, Dhurandhar’s commercial run is also under close watch. The film slowed slightly after a strong start but has held firm since then. On its fifth Saturday, Dhurandhar earned Rs 12.60 crore in India. This pushed the domestic nett total to Rs 806.80 crore, a figure that places it among the highest-earning Hindi releases.
Worldwide business for Dhurandhar is even stronger, with the film now ahead of Jawan and Pathaan. Industry trackers expect the global tally to touch around Rs 1,200 crore soon. That target would put Dhurandhar close to KGF: Chapter 2, which collected Rs 1,215 crore, and alongside earlier blockbusters like Dangal and Baahubali 2 in all-time lists.
Producers have already locked plans for Dhurandhar’s future on screen. A sequel to Dhurandhar is scheduled to release in cinemas on March 19, 2026. Until then, its ongoing run, Rahul Khanna’s delayed viewing, and Akshaye Khanna’s praised performance keep the film in public discussion across India and beyond.
