Rhea Chakraborty has spoken about Aryan Khan’s 2021 drug case, recalling how the controversy reminded Rhea of earlier events in Rhea’s own life. Rhea said Rhea even contacted Aryan after the Cordelia Cruise ship raid off Mumbai’s coast and tried to offer support.

In the interview, Rhea described watching Aryan’s arrest coverage and feeling echoes of Rhea’s family experience. Rhea said, "When I saw what Aryan was going through, it took me back because it was spectacularly similar. In fact, more than my story, it looked a lot like Showik's (brother) story. They also have a resemblance. It was very, very hard to watch. I did not speak to the media many times, and I still do not."

The comparison comes from Rhea’s own 2020 arrest in a drugs case linked to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. Sushant Singh Rajput died by suicide on June 14, 2020. Investigators later arrested Rhea in connection with alleged drug offences related to the case.

Rhea said standing beside Rhea during the drug case carried a heavy cost for many people. According to Rhea, those who publicly backed Rhea risked trolling, online abuse and possible loss of work, which made several supporters anxious about speaking out at that time.

Rhea named close friends who remained present despite that pressure. Rhea said, "Shibani, Nidhi, Anisha, Samisha, and Anusha, my girlfriends, really held fort. I also had Saqib Saleem and Huma. Saqib supported my parents a lot when Showik and I were in jail. I have been blessed to have these people in my life. If you have one true friend, that is enough to go through anything,"

Rhea added that the media coverage during the Sushant Singh Rajput case felt harsh and relentless. When asked whether Rhea has forgiven that media treatment, Rhea did not directly answer but stressed that Rhea still avoids speaking to the press in most situations, preferring private conversations.

Alongside reflecting on Aryan Khan’s drug case and Rhea’s own experience, Rhea is preparing a screen return. Rhea will next appear in the project Family Business, which is set to stream on Netflix and marks Rhea’s comeback to acting after the 2020 turmoil.
