According to a report by Moneycontrol, the shots were fired at Shetty Tower, the building where the filmmaker resides, prompting a response from the Mumbai Police and the Crime Branch. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Police officials said that two assailants arrived on motorcycles, opened fire at the building, and fled the spot soon after. Following the firing incident, police teams reached the location, and security around the premises was increased. Initial inquiries were launched at the site.

Hours after the firing, a post circulating on social media claimed responsibility for the attack. According to Moneycontrol, the post was attributed to individuals identifying themselves as members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. In the message, the individuals identified themselves as Shubham Lonkar, Aarzoo Bishnoi, Hari Boxer and Harman Shandu, and claimed responsibility for the firing outside Rohit Shetty's Mumbai residence. The post alleged that the filmmaker had been contacted multiple times earlier and warned not to interfere in their activities, claiming that those warnings were ignored.

The message described the firing as an initial act and warned of escalation if the filmmaker did not comply. It stated that the warning was directed not only at Rohit Shetty but also at members of the film industry, cautioning them to "mend their ways" and threatening consequences if they failed to do so. The post also warned individuals whom the group claimed to have contacted earlier, stating that they would have nowhere to hide if they did not fall in line, and concluded with a declaration asserting the dominance of the Lawrence Bishnoi group.

Following the social media post, the Mumbai Police and the Crime Branch launched a search operation in the city. A forensic team was sent to the spot to collect additional evidence, and CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being reviewed as part of the investigation.
