Firing Outside Filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Juhu Residence; Police Launch Probe

Firing Outside Rohit Shetty Residence: An investigation is underway after unidentified persons allegedly opened fire outside the Mumbai residence of filmmaker Rohit Shetty in the early hours of Sunday, February 1. The incident took place in Juhu, a residential area in the western suburbs, prompting a swift response from city police and the crime branch.

According to officials cited by the Times of India, multiple gunshots were fired at the building where the director resides, with preliminary information suggesting that at least four rounds were discharged. No injuries were reported, and there was no immediate confirmation on whether Shetty was present at the residence at the time of the incident.

Police Probe Continues; Security Stepped Up

Soon after the firing was reported, teams from the Juhu Police Station and the Mumbai Crime Branch reached the spot. The area was cordoned off, and security around the building was stepped up as a precautionary measure. Police officers were seen supervising the scene while investigators began collecting initial evidence. A forensic science team also reached the spot to collect evidence, according to reports.

As per NDTV, the firing occurred between 12.40 am and 1 am. Police officials have said that the motive behind the incident is not yet known, and investigators are examining all possible angles to identify those responsible.

The NDTV report further stated that a high-level meeting of the Mumbai Police was convened in connection with the incident. A case has been registered against unidentified assailants under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act, as part of the ongoing investigation.

A similar firing incident was reported outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan's Bandra residence in 2024, when two motorcycle-borne assailants fired multiple rounds before fleeing the area. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang later claimed responsibility for the attack and has previously issued threats against the actor. Salman Khan has remained under heightened security cover since the incident.
