Sayani Gupta To Be Honoured As Harvard South Asian

This prestigious honour celebrates South Asian excellence across fields, spotlighting individuals whose work has significantly influenced representation and identity on a global stage.

"As Harvard's premier organization celebrating South Asian culture, creativity, and leadership, we annually recognize an individual whose work has meaningfully shaped how South Asian identity is expressed and understood in public life. Sayani's performances have consistently challenged conventions and brought depth, boldness, and authenticity to contemporary narratives, making her a compelling voice in shaping more inclusive storytelling," wrote the Harvard SAA.

Sayani is being recognised for her powerful contribution to film, storytelling, and representation. The honour places her among a distinguished list of past recipients, including Vikas Khanna, who received the award last year.

She will be felicitated at Harvard University later this month.

Adding to a landmark year, Sayani is also stepping into a new creative chapter with her debut as a writer-director. Her short film Aasmani is set to have its world premiere at the WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival on April 25, followed by a screening at the Indie Meme Film Festival on April 26.

An alumna of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, Sayani has built a diverse body of work across film, theatre, and streaming. Known for her nuanced performances and fearless choice of roles, this recognition from Harvard SAA further cements her position as a significant global South Asian voice shaping contemporary narratives.
