Soundous Moufakir Celebrates The Cultural Bond Between India And Morocco; Says, “India Has Taught Me..."

Soundous Moufakir has made a name for herself in Khatron Ke Khiladi 13, Qaatal and Fateh, but beyond acting, she's also creating something very personal with Moromaa, her true Moroccan skincare brand. The brand is more than just business venture, it's her roots, her journey across the countries and her vision to introduce the traditional Moroccan beauty rituals to the Indian consumers.

Soundous Moufakir Celebrates The Cultural Bond

Speaking about how the idea was born, Soundous reveals that Moromaa came from a place very close to her heart. "The idea for Moromaa came from something very personal: home. I grew up in Morocco, where skincare was never about trends or complicated routines. It was about rituals passed down through generations, using ingredients like argan oil, nila powder, rose water, and rhassoul clay. These weren't luxury ingredients to us, they were simply a part of everyday life," she says. She further explains that after moving abroad and eventually settling in India, she noticed that Moroccan ingredients were admired globally but rarely represented in their authentic form. "I wanted to change that. Moromaa was born from a desire to bring the real Morocco to the world, not just its ingredients, but also its culture, craftsmanship, and philosophy of beauty."

The brand's name itself reflects that emotion. "Moro" is Morocco and "Maa" is mother, representing nourishment, care and the root of one's being. Through Moromaa, Soundous isn't simply selling skincare; she is introducing stories, traditions, and age-old beauty practices that have been cherished in Moroccan households for generations.

Having spent years in India, Soundous believes the two countries share more similarities than people often realise. "India and Morocco are geographically far apart, but culturally they have more in common than people realize. Both countries deeply value tradition, family, handmade craftsmanship, and natural wellness," she shares. According to her, living in India has shaped her perspective just as Morocco shaped her identity.

Explaining how Moromaa brings these worlds together, she says, "India has taught me so much over the years, while Morocco shaped who I am. Moromaa is my way of bringing these two worlds together. We use authentic Moroccan ingredients and design products with Indian consumers and their skin care needs in mind. It's not just about bringing in ingredients, it's about making a meaningful cultural exchange where both countries inspire each other."

For Soundous, Moromaa is more than a skincare label, it's a reflection of home, heritage and shared traditions. She is working to create a brand that uses authentic Moroccan ingredients with an awareness of Indian skincare needs and demonstrates that beauty can be a significant bridge between the two.
