Vivek Agnihotri Praises Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar In Tweet, Avoids Mentioning Ranveer Singh Or Cast
Dhurandhar continues to draw audiences with robust domestic earnings, edging closer to RRR's lifetime total. The film receives widespread industry praise for its craft, ensemble performances, and cohesive direction, reinforcing confidence in Indian cinema's ongoing growth and durability.
Dhurandhar continues to draw audiences even after a month in cinemas, with strong box office numbers and steady buzz inside the Hindi film industry. Many film professionals are still heading to theatres, and trade observers now expect the film’s domestic run to challenge the lifetime earnings of SS Rajamouli’s RRR, which stands at Rs. 782.20 crore.

The film’s collections dipped on its fifth Friday, when Dhurandhar recorded a single-digit figure for the first time. However, business picked up again over the Saturday and Sunday that followed. After 31 days, the film has earned Rs. 772.25 crore in India, placing it within striking distance of RRR’s lifetime total featuring Ram Charan and Jr NTR.
Dhurandhar box office collection and industry reaction
| Film / Period | Box office collection (India) |
|---|---|
| Dhurandhar (31 days) | Rs. 772.25 crore |
| RRR (lifetime) | Rs. 782.20 crore |
While the box office story grows, Dhurandhar is also drawing praise from filmmakers. A few days earlier, Anurag Kashyap had shared appreciation for the movie on social media. Now, The Bengal Files director Vivek Agnihotri has posted a detailed reaction, applauding Aditya Dhar’s work but not naming lead actor Ranveer Singh in the message.
Agnihotri shared his thoughts soon after returning to the country, celebrating the film’s ambition and craft. He tweeted, "DHURANDHAR Just landed back in India after two months and the first thing we did was watch @AdityaDharFilms Dhurandhar. Mind blown and proud are the only words that come to my mind. Anyone who knows what goes into making a film would understand what it takes to pull something like this off. The vision, the writing, the confidence, the belief in your own instinct… this kind of cinema doesn't happen by chance (sic)." Agnihotri also highlighted the production design, music, and cinematography, noting how these creative departments support Aditya Dhar’s vision.
Dhurandhar box office collection and performances
The filmmaker then focused on the acting, again avoiding any mention of Ranveer Singh or other cast names. Agnihotri wrote, "Performances… yes, some will obviously be more talked about. But the real victory of Dhurandhar is that even the smallest, most insignificant characters have delivered top-notch performances. Every face feels cast, directed, and placed with intention. Most importantly, every department is in rare sync, working as one organism. That kind of cohesion doesn't happen by accident. That's when you know it's purely a writer/director's film (sic)." His comment underlined the ensemble nature of the film and the control of the director.
Agnihotri closed his note by directly addressing Aditya Dhar and linking Dhurandhar’s success to the growth of Indian cinema. "@adityadharfilms, I've always admired your work, especially your sense of scale and design, but this is you operating on another level. I watched the film with genuine pride… proud of you, proud of the craft, proud of Indian cinema. You are blessed. Truly. God's own child. More power to you. Keep going. Keep raising the bar. When the younger generation does work like this, Indian cinema moves forward. Simple. Bravo! (sic)," the filmmaker further wrote. With Dhurandhar still doing well at the box office and praise arriving from peers, the film appears set to maintain its strong theatrical run as it edges closer to RRR’s benchmark.
