Honey Singh bipolar disorder impact on career and public life
Singh said mental health struggles eventually led to walking away from a live show mid-performance. Crowds were waiting, but Singh felt something was very wrong inside. That moment became a turning point, leading to a long retreat from stage and spotlight.
Honey added, "Then I called my sister and told her that something was happening to me. She said I would still have to do the show. I left midway after singing two songs. After that, I stayed inside my house for seven years. I didn't want my fans to see me in that condition. I locked myself inside and didn't even meet my childhood friends. There was no communication, no phone calls, no TV, no internet. People used to think the devil was talking to me."
Singh also clarified that drug use stopped in 2014, yet mental balance returned only slowly. According to Singh, it took around seven to eight years after quitting drugs to feel stable again. During this period, the focus stayed on recovery and understanding bipolar disorder.
Despite these struggles, Honey Singh remains one of India’s most streamed music figures. Songs like Brown Rang, Desi Kalakaar and Lungi Dance continue to play across clubs, weddings and playlists. The new account of living with bipolar disorder adds another layer to the public image of the artist.
