The film is quite special for Aparna Nyar as it marks her debut in Bollywood. Fans have been intrigued by her presence ever since they saw her glimpse in a sequence in Blood Daddy, where she was seen donning a traditional get-up.

Ahead of the release of the film, Aparna exclusively interacted with Filmibeat and opened up about working with Shahid Kapoor. She also spilled the beans on her working experience and fond memory from the set.

Here are excerpts from the interview.

Share with us your journey as an actress leading up to your Bollywood debut with Bloody Daddy?

My work has been predominantly as a commercial actress in the Middle East and North Africa. I've had the opportunity to work in interesting creative projects for several brands in the past decade.

What inspired you to pursue a career in acting, and how did you prepare yourself for the challenges of the industry?

I'm a lover of storytelling fundamentally. Acting in one aspect of that. I enjoy being able to live in the skin of a person to be able to tell their story. I guess you focus on your strengths and face obstacles as and when they come your way. I don't really have any familial connections in the field, so I just try to take my work one day at a time and do my best.

How did you feel when you found out that "Bloody Daddy" would be your Bollywood debut? Did you have any expectations or fears going into the project?

Honestly, I didn't think of it as a debut, and I still don't know what would actually classify as a debut. My intention going into this project was to be able to learn from being in an environment quite different than what I'm used to. As a student of the craft, I wanted to work with people that are far senior in expertise to me, and hopefully adapt and learn from them.

What was your experience like working on the set of "Bloody Daddy"? Any memorable moments or challenges you faced during the filming process?

I'm lucky to have had a lot of Dubai-based actors with me on the project. We formed a mini unit and helped each other throughout the shooting process whether it was practicing lines or easing our nerves. Having familiar faces working with you definitely helps you feel comfortable. Ali sir's direction team is incredible. I see why they're been such a success.

Every single member was so hands-on and have a huge role to play in my perception of an experience which would otherwise feel quite overwhelming. Most experiences on that set were a first for me and I did feel like a fish out of water on some occasions because I'm a bit of a perfectionist with work. There definitely was a method to the madness when it came to everyday activities on Bloody Daddy's set.

How does it feel on being directed by director Ali Abbas Zafar for your debut film?

I'm forever grateful and honoured. He's brilliant. He knows what he wants and he conveys it to you clearly. He speaks to all his actors directly regardless of how big or small your role is in the film. I love that.

What do you hope audiences will take away from the movie?

This movie is a complete action film at its core. The action sequences in the film have been curated so carefully and realistically. I'm most excited myself to watch the intense action in this movie and I hope the audience connects with it too.

How was your experience working with Shahid Kapoor? Any fond memory from the set? Who's your favourite co-star?

He's super dedicated. He was so normal in conversation off-screen and then tapped into this dark, intense aura when the cameras were on, that it was a bit jarring. He's really good. As an actor, I was watching closely and taking notes.

What are your future aspirations as an actress? Are there any particular genres or roles you would like to explore in your upcoming projects?

I've always looked at stories first and then the character to narrate that story. I'm new to this and have an open mind when it comes to genres and characters. I think I will be quite intuitive in choosing projects and roles going forward. I love romance, action, comedy, drama and crime. If I'm able to connect with the director and writer's vision and they think I would do justice to their project, I would hit it with my best shot.

We hope Aparna continues to blossom like a flower in the industry and impress us with her performances.
