Made In Heaven 2: It's difficult to keep calm as the second season of one of the best desi web series in India has premiered on Amazon Prime Video. There's no prize for guessing that we are talking about Made In Heaven. I have to admit one thing- MIH was the first original Indian web series that I watched. And I have to say- I waited with bated breath for the second installment.

There's no way one cannot fall in love with Karan Mehra's character in Made In Heaven 2. For the first time ever, we have a homosexual character where the makers craft fully designed him without making it seem like a caricature. Our Bollywood films and TV serials are notorious for stereotyping things but Zoya Akhtar and her team didn't do so, earning brownie points from all corners.

While the writers did a wonderful, it was Arjun Mathur, who breathed life into the character. Unlike many celebrities, he didn't shy away from playing a homosexual character for the third time in his career. His intimate scene with Vikrant Massey became the talk of the town as the director aesthetically shot it.

It was a double bonanza for me as I interviewed Arjun Mathur while enjoying the picturesuqe beaches of Goa. And yes, the talented artist did tell me about his sweet abode in Siolim, Goa.

WAS THERE ANY PRESSURE? NAAA..

Arjun beamed with joy as he spoke about his experience working in the second season, Mona Singh, International Emmy Award nomination and a lot more. Did he feel the pressure before the launch of second season?

"There's no pressure. Humne jo karna tha, kaam kar liya. I am excited because we wanted to bring the show since a long time. We were supposed to shoot in April or May 2020 but COVID-19 knocked our doors. After that, there were two lockdowns, which also caused delays in shoot. We finished shooting last year and now we are here. Sorry for the delay," Arjun quipped.

Just like the first season, the second part showcased India's obsession with fair skin, domestic violence and patriarchy. Talking about it, Mr Mathur said, "The societal issues were dealt with sensitivity, without being preachy. And that's the beauty of the show. There was a destination wedding in the series and several exciting elements that turn out to be the highlight."

ON FOUR-YEAR GAP BETWEEN TWO SEASONS

Wondering why it took four years to launch the series? Arjun has a clear answer. "It could happen to any show but one has to understand that Made In Heaven is made on a grand scale. Each episode was shot like a film. For each episode, we had a new cast. COVID-19 impacted us but the morale never went low," pat came the reply.

ARJUN MATHUR ON WORKING WITH MONA SINGH

While we loved Karan and Tara, Bulbul Jauhari made us cheer for her. Even before the show premiered on OTT, Arjun said that Mona Singh would emerge as the show stealer. Arjun is always generous and showered his co-star with praise and admiration.

"Mona Singh is one of the most beautiful humans I have ever met. Her energy on set is so positive, happy and you want to be around her. I took a long flight with her and bonded so well. I am so glad she came on board and played Bulbul with ease and perfection," the Gone Game actor said.

ON EMMY NOMINATION

Every artist wishes to see his work being recognized across the world. Arjun Mathur, who is known for his acting prowess, added another feather to his cap as he earned a nomination for Best Performance by an Actor category in International Emmy Awards. Receiving a nomination is like validation for one's work.

When we extended our personal congratulations to Arjun, he said, "It was a defining moment of my life because I have doing this for long. Yahi toh hai bhagwan ka khel hai. We have been talking about different validation but such things stay with you forever. During your lowest phase, you remember such things and it boosts your morale. It's a big moment for me as only a few Indians have received Emmy nominations. It made me realise- 'Tum jo bhi kar rahe ho, uss sab me fal hain'."
