Made In Heaven 2: Dalit Author Yashica Dutt Who Called Out Makers For ‘Credits’; Accused Of Plagiarism

Made In Heaven 2 Controversy: The author of Coming Out as Dalit, Yashica Dutt, called out the makers of Prime Video's Made In Heaven 2, namely Neeraj Ghaywan, Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti for misappropriating her life and work in the fifth episode of the series.

This conversation has just got a new turn now as the journalist and writer Sumit Baudh has now shared a statement stating Yashica Dutt not giving him credit for his article (of 2007) in her book (of 2019).

SUMIT BAUDH'S STATEMENT ON YASHICA DUTT

Sumit Baudh took to his social media and shared a note on Yashica Dutt's statement on her Made In Heaven 2 accusations. The statement stood against Yashica Dutt as Sumit Baudh called her a hypocrite. Sumit Baudh's statement reads, "Proprietary claims to ideas and stories are also characteristic of a system that rewards seemingly individual effort over interdependent ways in which ideas are conceived, shaped, formed, advanced, received, amplified, and encashed."

He added, "As a journalist and as a writer, ideas are how I survive," she said. "If I'm not credited and they've made money on top of that, then that's not okay." Amusing to note the obvious hypocrisy here-of @YashicaDutt's failure to credit my article (of 2007) in her book (of 2019)."

Following the launch of the fifth episode of the series, which explores a Dalit bride's choice to have a Buddhist wedding, reaffirming her caste identity and sense of pride.

Though the episode has garnered acclaim, Yashica Dutt, raised objections against the show's creators for using her life story and work without giving proper credit. The particular episode titled "The Heart Skipped a Beat," helmed by Neeraj Ghaywan features Radhika Apte as the bride.

Her claims, however, were dismissed by the makers, who released a long statement.

Meanwhile, Made In Heaven 2 started streaming on Prime Video from August 9.
