Obscenity, Foul Language Will Not Be Tolerated In Name Of Creativity: Union Minister Hits Out At OTT Platforms
Union Minister Anurag Thakur, while addressing the media, took a jibe at the OTT platforms and clarified that obscenity and foul language in the name of creativity will not be tolerated.

The content on over the top (OTT) platforms and the absence of censorship for the same has been a topic of discussion for a long time. Time and again the use of foul language and obscenity in the content on OTT platforms has heated up and left everyone brimming with an opinion. And now, Union Minister Anurag Thakur has taken a jibe at the OTT platforms and assured people that ministry will be taking strict action against those who will be crossing the line with the usage of obscenity and foul language.
Addressing the media recently, Anurag Thakur stated, "Abusing in the name of creativity will not be tolerated. Government is serious about complaints of increasing abusive and obscene content on OTT platforms. If there is a need to make any changes in the rules regarding this, the ministry will consider in that direction as well. These platforms were given freedom for creativity, not obscenity or abusing. And when someone crosses a limit, then abusing, rudeness in the name of creativity cannot be accepted at all. Whatever necessary action needs to be taken on this, the government will not back down from it"
To note, the ministry took the decision after there were multiple complaints regarding the obscenity in the content following which the department started taking the rise seriously and measures are being taken. Thakur also emphasised that the producer needs to find a solution at the first level before it reaches the department and the government. To recall, Anurag Thakur, earlier this year, had claimed that there were required provisions to monitor content on OTT platforms.
