EXCLUSIVE! Kho Gaye Hum Kahan Star Rohan Gurbaxani On Dream Project With Imtiaz Ali: On Top Of My List

EXCLUSIVE! Rohan Gurbaxani On Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, Ananya Panday & More

Kho Gaye Hum Kahan: It's always a treat to talk to actors, who are hungry to prove themselves and know their craft well. The moment I saw him in Made In Heaven 2, I knew that he had the potential to woo the audience. There's no prize for guessing that we are talking about Rohan Gurbaxani.

Rohan, a Bengaluru boy, is making waves in the world of showbiz. He made his acting debut with Amazon Prime Video's hit web series Made In Heaven season 2, where he won hearts for his role of Aman. His character stood up to societal issues and taboos like skin colourism. Making a debut with Excel Entertainment is like a dream come true, isn't it? But it was not as easy as it sounds on paper.

As his new film Kho Gaye Hum Kahan premiered on Netflix, Rohan interacted with Filmibeat and spoke about his experience working with Tiger Baby production, Ananya Panday, dream project with Imtiaz Ali and a lot more.

ON MAKING DEBUT WITH MADE IN HEAVEN 2

A week before returning to New York, the handsome actor received a life-changing audition notice for Made in Heaven 2. "Making my debut with MIH 2 and having a character like Aman was a big opportunity for me. It was the best of both worlds. The episode and the character dealt with something relevant in society. It was the best way to enter the industry. It was an 'Outsider launch'," he said.

ON HIS REACTION BEFORE KHO GAYE HUM KAHAN OTT RELEASE

"I am very excited as it is released after 1.5 years after the official announcement. At the beginning of your career, it is important that your projects release on time and they get a good response," he quipped when asked whether he had butterflies in his stomach before the premiere.

"Working with Tiger Baby and Excel Entertainment is always enriching. The production houses are so organised, so overall it is a very smooth experience. Working with them is something I will always cherish," he added.

ANANYA PANDAY WAS WELL-PREPARED ON SETS

The boy with a charming smile played the role of Ananya Panday's boyfriend in the coming-of-age film. Interestingly, Rohan Gurbaxani's character in Kho Gaye Hum Kahan is also named Rohan. "It was a surprise for me when the creative team informed me about it. When I was in my last round of auditioning, I got to know about it. I was like -' Only a Rohan can play a Rohan' (laughs). Before the shoot, we had a lot of workshops to prepare for our roles. I always crave for workshops as you know the beat of the character. The workshop process was very smooth with Ananya Panday."

"This also gave us time to bond and I got to know her well. She was a professional actor, who was always prepared on the sets. She came with a book and a highlighter. This is the best part of having a co-star, who is always well-prepared. Our director Arjun was willing to do whatever it took to make a scene work," Rohan stated.

HOW HIS LOVE AFFAIR WITH ACTING BEGAN?

Rohan's love affair with drama began in the eighth grade, where he nurtured dreams of studying Drama at NYU, despite having minimal exposure to theater. The turning point came when Rohan enrolled at LSTFI in NYU, where he learned to hone his craft and discovered the possibilities of mastering the acting skill.

"I got passionate for acting after I joined NYU's Tisch College of Arts, my dream college. I was like- 'Yes, ye main kar sakta hu'. That was the first step. You can have your family and friends say 'Yes, tu hero banega' but you need to have validation for that. Acting is an art form and like any job, you have to work on it. No one can put truth in your performance. Having that in mind, I decided to want to go to Mumbai," he said.

DREAM PROJECT

Rohan's eyes sparkled when he talked about his dream project. Although he refrained from spilling the beans on his upcoming project with Anurag Basu, he beamed with joy as he spoke about working with Dada on the sets.

When asked about his dream project and a director he would like to collaborate with, he mentioned, "There are so many directors that I want to work with- Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Rajkumar Hirani and Imtiaz Ali."

"I definitely think Imtiaz Ali sir is on the top of my list. I saw his films where he beautifully portrayed human relationships. Whenever I hear him talk about filmmaking, I can connect with him. I will be more than happy to work with him," he said. We both manifested that his dream became a reality and I promised that I would remind him when he signs the dotted lines.

Kho Gaye Hum Kahan is available for viewing on Netflix.
