In the entertainment world, it means even if you do great at an audition, get noticed, or even get chosen for a project, it doesn't guarantee you'll end up in front of the camera. Model-turned-actor Navneet Malik, who will soon be seen in Disney+Hotstar's series The Freelancer is no stranger to this truth.

As the young actor takes steps forward on his journey, he's had his fair share of successes and setbacks. What's not widely known is that Navneet faced a significant setback in Bollywood - he had to let go of a major opportunity to a more established actor. Yes, it's true!

In Akshay Kumar's movie "Prithviraj," Navneet Malik was replaced by a familiar face. Even though this could have been a dream come true for Navneet, it didn't work out due to last-minute changes. However, they say that fate has its own plans, and Navneet firmly believes in that.

THE FREELANCER ON LOSING PROJECT TO KNOWN ACTOR

Opening up about the same, Navneet said, "I had my dream role in sight, then it shifted to a seasoned star of the past. Auditions, hope, months of waiting - all for the project to vanish. The director chose a different path, a more familiar face. In the midst of it, I was a lost soul in Mumbai's vastness. But from that setback, I began a new journey, learning every step and embracing the industry's rhythm."

Ask him what keeps him motivated despite the setbacks, Navneet shared, "Personally, I'm quite self-motivated. I don't easily get down or let things bother me. I understand that sometimes, even when I've given my all, auditions might not go as planned. But that's just how it goes sometimes. There are many variables at play. So, I don't put the blame on myself. I believe it's important to always have faith in yourself and your abilities, regardless of the outcomes. That's my perspective."

The Freelancer features Mohit Raina, Anupam Kher, Kashmira Pardesi, Sushant Singh, Manjari Fadnis, Sarah Janedias, John Kokken, and Gauri Balaji in key roles. Navneet will be seen playing the role of Mohsin, the negative lead in the Neeraj Pandey-created series, which is slated to release on September 1.

The much-awaited series will be available for streaming on Disney+Hotstar from next month.
