Wedding.Con Review: A Gut Wrenching Series Showing The Dark Side Of Matrimonial Market

Wedding.Con Review

Marriage - it is one of the most beautiful, important and life changing decision in a person's life and the indian society's obsession with marriage has always been a topic of debate. While the 'shaadi kab karoge' question does irk everyone, each one of us wishes to find a partner at some point of life so the dawn of life together. And given the societal pressure about getting married at the right age, many of us have sought help of several matrimonial sites in pursuit of love.

But did you know there is a dark side of this matrimonial market? Yes! Amazon Prime's new docu-series Wedding.con is based on a similar theme. Directed by Tanuja Chandra, Wedding.con narrates the story of five women who narrate heartbreaking and shocking incidents of how their dream of having a fairytale love story and a dream like wedding turned into a horrid reality after they were duped emotionally and financially by their respective partners ahead of the wedding and were left to suffer.

In the docu-series, each victim was seen recalling how they had met their respective partners and were lured for a beautiful dream like life post wedding and how they were scammed were left with a permanent damaged to their hearts and dreams. While the docu-series shook something in me and was emotional at several points, I loved how Tanuja Chandra captured every emotion and let the women be. Besides, it did leave me pondering how the society around me has become unkind and cruel to this extent.

While Tanuja Chandra's docu-series Wedding.con appears to be a cautionary warning with the five women talking about the humiliation, trauma and pain they suffered after their trust was crushed, it also highlights these women as brave fighters who are not willing to give up on life because of any scammer. And this is something Tanuja has managed to present very beautifully.

Wedding.con is indeed a decent watch and quite relevant in a time when 'shaadi kab karoge' is still one of the biggest questions in life especially for women.
