After all, the period drama brought together an impressive ensemble of cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Sharmin Segal. Heeramandi happens to be a period drama based on lives of tawaifs at the red-light district of Heera Mandi in Lahore during the Indian independence movement against the British Raj.
