The official synopsis of Hierarchy reads, "The story depicts the love, friendship, revenge, and compassion that take place when Kang Ha, a transfer student, enters Jusin High School, a prestigious private school where the children of the top 0.01% of conglomerates gather."

Lee Chae-Min stars as Kang Ha, a transfer student who disrupts the elite student group at Jooshin High School. Despite entering a different world, Kang Ha remains fearless against the bullies. Opposite Chae-Min, Roh Jeong-Eui plays Jeong Jae-Yi, the eldest daughter of a wealthy family that owns the prominent Jaeyool Group. Jae-Yi, the queen of Jooshin High School, dates the heir to the Jooshin Group but is likely to break up with him and form a friendship with Kang Ha.

Kim Jae-Won also takes on a leading role in the Netflix drama, portraying Kim Ri-An, the heir to the Jooshin Group. At the high school, he holds the top position, but his status is threatened by the arrival of Kang Ha.
