Matka King: Kritika Kamra Excited To Work In Another Series Exploring Mumbai Landscape After Bambai Meri Jaan

After her badass role in Bambai Meri Jaan, Kritika Kamra is set to take on a pivotal role in the upcoming series "Matka King," directed by the acclaimed National Award-winning filmmaker Nagraj Manjule and produced by Roy Kapur Film for Amazon Prime Video. Known for her powerful performance in "Bambai Meri Jaan," Kritika will once again captivate audiences in a series inspired by the real-life Matka gambling phenomenon that dominated India from the 1960s to the 1990s.
"Matka King" delves into the intricate world of Matka gambling that started in Mumbai. The series features Vijay Varma in the titular role of the Matka King, with Kritika Kamra playing a crucial part in this compelling narrative. After earning praise for her portrayal of a gangster in 'Bambai Meri Jaan', Kritika is set to deliver another memorable performance.
While both these Mumbai based stories are period dramas, Kritika is excited to work on a brand new character showcasing her versitality.
"I am incredibly excited to work with Nagraj Manjule. It's an honour to get this opportunity to work with a filmmaker whose work I've deeply admired and I'm sure this will be a tremendous learning experience. 'Matka King' offers a rich story about the complex and dangerous world of Matka gambling. While the era and landscape may have similarity to the world of Bambai Meri Jaan, my character is nothing like Habiba. The only thing common is that they are impactful parts."
Nagraj Manjule is known for his widely acclaimed Marathi films. He won the National Award for his film 'Fandry'. His subsequent films 'Sairat' and Amitabh Bachchan starrer 'Jhund' have established him as one of the most anticipated filmmakers in India.
