According to the latest reports, Disney Plus Hotstar has acquired the OTT rights for Munjya. Following the trend of recent Bollywood releases such as Maidaan and Laapataa Ladies, the film is expected to debut digitally approximately two months after its theatrical run, likely towards the end of July or early August. However, official confirmation and an exact release date are still awaited.
MUNJYA PLOT OVERVIEW, BOX OFFICE UPDATE
The film centers on the legend of Munjya, a Brahmarakshas, drawing inspiration from Indian folklore and mythology. It introduces Munjya, a CGI character deeply rooted in traditional tales.
Munjya follows the story of a spirit unleashed by a young boy Bittu (Abhay Verma), which then starts to wreak havoc on him and asks him to find his ladly love Munni. The narrative explores Munjya's obsession with love, offering a unique and original horror storyline. This blend of folklore and romance adds depth to the horror elements, making it a captivating tale.
In the first week, the film did a business of Rs 36.50 crore on the domestic front. Seeing the response, it might cross the Rs 75 crore mark in the coming days.
