Shekhar Home OTT Release Date: Kay Kay Menon, Rasika Dugal Open Up On Shooting In REAL Life Locations

JioCinema is gearing up to launch its new detective drama series, 'Shekhar Home,' on 14th August. The series features Kay Kay Menon as Shekhar, a detective known for his remarkable problem-solving skills. Supporting roles are played by Ranvir Shorey, Rasika Dugal, and Kirti Kulhari. Inspired by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's literary works, the show transports viewers to a 1990s village in West Bengal.

Kay Kay Menon expressed his amazement at the production team's ability to find locations in West Bengal that still exude the charm of the nineties. "I was surprised that the production team could do a recce and find those places in West Bengal which still hold the charm of the nineties. It's a very tough job. The kind of places that we shot are very unique. I don't think anyone has seen this kind of stuff including that kind of forests and that kind of architecture. The setting of the series is very unique and we have multiple locations which audiences will see for the first time," he said.

Authentic 1990s Setting

The series was filmed on location to authentically depict the era, using the region's enduring architecture and roadways to recreate the nostalgic charm and atmosphere of the 1990s. This meticulous attention to detail helps transport viewers back in time, offering a genuine glimpse into life during that period.

Rasika Dugal shared her thoughts on preserving old architecture while discussing her experience shooting for 'Shekhar Home.' "Certain pockets in the country retain and preserve the older architecture. Though modernisation is taking a lot of it away, I am very drawn to such places that retain the old charm. Shantiniketan has succeeded in doing that to a large extent. We shot in a very old haveli. Imagine, what if it had been broken and rebuilt into something else? We are losing on parts of our heritage slowly," she remarked.

Preserving Heritage

Dugal highlighted how certain areas manage to maintain their historical structures despite modernisation pressures. She emphasized her attraction to these places, noting how Shantiniketan has largely preserved its architectural heritage.

The show's setting is unique, featuring multiple locations that audiences will see for the first time. This adds an element of novelty and authenticity to 'Shekhar Home,' making it stand out among contemporary series.
