Sushant Divgikar's Authentic Portrayal Of Tara in '36 Days' Steals Spotlight. Her Open Letter Goes Viral

Sushant Divgikar s Authentic Portrayal of Tara in 36 Days

The much-anticipated mystery crime thriller "36 Days" has officially launched on SonyLIV, and it's already making waves as the perfect ensemble to binge-watch. Among the stellar cast, at the heart of this mystery crime thriller is Sushant Divgikar, delivering a standout performance as Tara, a transgender character who also lends their musical talents to the role as a singer within the series.

Sushant shines in the role of Tara, playing their true self bringing authenticity to the character. Known for their versatility as a singer and actor, not only portrays Tara with nuance but also lends their soulful voice to three original tracks featured in the series. The makers have taken a bold step in breaking stereotypes and gender diversity by casting Sushant, perfectly aligning with the character's requirements.

Sushant penned an open letter on social media about her 'connection' with Tara. Check out what she wrote!

Secrets are injurious to health.
This has never been more true for me when I think of all the years where I, Sushant, had to keep Rani KoHEnur tucked away from the world. In fact, it was only when I set them free that I felt myself thrive and glow and become my NamaSLAY self! Everything that has happened for me since I stopped keeping myself a secret from the world has only been for the best, and I could not be any more grateful for the opportunities that have come my way. It has opened the doors for me to discover new facets of myself as an actor, a singer, a person, as Sushant and as Rani KoHEnur- and each discovery has only been more delightful than the last.

I got the opportunity to bring my own story to screen, in the incredible role of Tara on the upcoming mystery thriller '36 Days' which is going to be streaming now on Sony Liv. It was an amazing experience to be able to play a singer and performer who has faced so many struggles similar to my own, having to hide their true identity from the world much like I did for so long. But Tara still has some secrets that they are hiding, and we know that secrets are injurious to health, but they're also extremely fun! ;)

Reflecting on my journey of self-discovery and acceptance as a transgender person, I find a deep connection with Tara's struggles in the show. During a pivotal moment in my life, when my secret was no longer hidden, the unconditional and constant support I received from my family became a beacon of love and acceptance. Their embrace as I discovered my true self mirror the support Tara received from her best friend, Sia, in the series 36 days. But everything was not a cake walk, I faced my own set of challenges with some close friends who couldn't understand or accept my identity.

I've come to understand that not everyone will walk beside you on every step of your journey, and that's okay. Life teaches us that we must sometimes let go of those who cannot support us in the way we need. It's a painful truth, but one that reinforces the importance of staying true to oneself.

"36 Days" is produced by Applause Entertainment in association with BBC Studios India and directed by Vishal Furia. This thrilling series promises to captivate audiences with its intriguing plot and exceptional performances. The series is available to watch on Sony LIV.
