And while he enjoys a massive fan following across the world, he recently grabbed the eyeballs for his 2023 release The Holdovers which turned out to be a massive box office hit. Written by David Hemingson, this American Christmas comedy drama featured Paul Giamatti, Da'Vine Joy Randolph and Dominic Sessa in the lead.

The Holdovers narrates the story of a strict classics teacher at a New England boarding school who is forced to chaperone a handful of students with nowhere to go on the Christmas break and ends up making an unusual Christmas for him. The comedy drama had opened to rave reviews from the audience and made a box office collection of $44.6 million. In fact, it also won awards at Golden Globe Awards and the British Academy Film Awards along with five nominations at the 96th Academy Awards.

Given the incredible box office success of The Holdover, there have been endless speculations about when will it premiere on OTT platforms in India. And looks like the wait is over. Months after the theatrical release, The Holdover is all set to have its OTT release on Jio Cinema on June 16. It is reported that the movie will be out at midnight on June 16.

Meanwhile, talking about the movie, Payne stated in an interview, "It's a movie about three very different people flung together in an unlikely circumstance at a school. These three people, as I say, have pretty disparate backgrounds, but each is haunted by something. They never anticipated being alone together for two very snowy weeks at an empty school in New England. And it's how they not just find common ground, but fall in love to some degree. It's a little cheap to say, 'oh, they form an unlikely family', but I guess they form kind of an unlikely family"
