Uprising, directed by Kim Sang-man and penned by Shin Cheol and Park Chan-wook, explores the tumultuous lives of two childhood friends who become bitter rivals amid the Japanese invasions of Korea.

It revolves around Cheon Yeong (played by Gang Dong-won), a skilled martial artist trapped in the bonds of slavery, who fights desperately to escape his unjust servitude. He faces off against Jong-ryeo, his former master, who has now become an adversary as a loyal officer to King Seonjo and a volunteer soldier amidst the turmoil of war.

Uprising features Park Jeong-min, Kim Shin-rok, Gang Dong-won, Jin Seon-kyu, Jung Sung-il, and Cha Seung-won in pivotal roles. The film made its debut as the opening feature at the 29th Busan International Film Festival on October 2, 2024, and is set to premiere on Netflix today ( October 11, 2024).
